5 Beauty Products I Discovered During Pregnancy (And Will Continue To Use After)

With all the beauty regimes I’ve tried recently my medicine cabinet is starting to burst at the seams and I am perfectly fine with that. Despite my husband barely having enough room to store his tooth brush, knowing that it’s filled with my hopes and dreams of dewy, lush skin, gives me the satisfaction that I’ve done enough field research to find exactly what works and doesn’t.

When I found out I was growing a tiny human inside of me, I knew my body would be changing dramatically– stretching, shedding, stretching, etc. so I wanted to make sure that it had a little support along the way. Sure, I started bulking up on salads and other healthy foods, but, I also wanted to make sure that the ingredients in the products I was using for my skin and hair weren’t (for lack of a better word) filled with crap. So, I didn’t waste anytime before jumping on an Amazon/Sephora for a beauty bender to upgrade all my products to support me during this precious time. Here are 5 products that I discovered and used throughout my pregnancy and plan to use after.

1. Farmacy Whipped Greens Facial Cleanser

Farmacy - Whipped Greens: oil-free foaming cleanser with moringa and papaya 5.0 oz/ 150 mL Clean at Sephora

First and foremost, I was sold on this facial cleanser at ‘whipped greens.’ With just about a 5-star review on both Sephora and the Farmacy website, it’s hard to scroll past this clean product without your curiosity forcing you to *add to cart*. Its first ingredient is moringa seed extract — and if you know anything about moringa, you know that it’s the ultimate power green. There’s even the extra detail that the seed is sourced from a farm in the Coachella valley. I mean, if that doesn’t pique your interest, I’m not sure what will. But if that’s not enough, I really can’t recommend it enough as it took my skin on a paraben-free, synthetic fragrance free, cruelty-free journey I’ll never forget.

WHY I LOVE IT

Besides from its clean smell, after one use, my skin feels the way my body does after drinking a green smoothie: healthy, clean, and ready for the day.

Apply to wet face either in the morning or at night and lather in circular motion. For combination and oily skin

2. Maui Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner

I wanted a haircare product that was full of all the good stuff – you know, like, aloe, coconut oil. etc. But, void of all the gross stuff like dyes, parabens, silicones, etc. I prepared myself that I’d likely have to spend a pretty penny to find the best product out there. But, after researching the entire internet, I came across Maui Moisture along with its 5 star Amazon rating with over 13,000 reviews (insert mind-blown emoji here) and was immediately intrigued. And, the biggest kicker, it’s only $7. I was hooked after one use with how soft my hair and how clean my scalp felt– as was my husband when he confessed he’d be retiring the shampoo and conditioner he’d used for years because mine was better.

Why I love it

There are no gross chemicals in this product and the first ingredient is Aloe. It take the frizz out and leaves my hair with the kind of shine that is usually only achieved at the salon. Plus, did I mention it was only $7?

3. Bio Oil

This wouldn’t be a complete list of products used during pregnancy if this cult favorite didn’t make an appearance. My belly would be growing quickly and my skin would be stretching by the minute so I definitely needed an oil to keep my skin from drying out. When I first found out I was pregnant, three friends separately reached out and recommended Bio Oil for my growing belly. Around the same time, the ultimate beauty influencer, Miss Julee, who I follow on Instagram, and who also happened to be pregnant, posted this as an essential item during pregnancy. I’ve never added anything faster to my cart before. When it arrived, I lathered it all over my growing bump to keep it moisturized and I honestly thought – how good could this be? Turns out, pretty damn good. It has almost 5-stars from over 70,000 Amazon reviewers.

Why I love it

I ran out of my first bottle of it and had to go three days without it. Within those three days my bump had never felt more dry and flaky. I had no idea my skin could get that way since it had been protected by the bio oiil up until then. It’s a game changer.

4. First Aid Beauty Intense Hydration

First Aid Beauty - Ultra RepairĀ® Cream Intense Hydration 6 oz/ 170 g Allure Best of Beauty Seal Clean at Sephora

I’m actually a little embarrassed that I hadn’t discovered this product earlier in life. This First Aid ultra repair cream is magic and can be used for any part of your body (including and especially your face). Once you open up the container and lay your eyes on that creamy whipped but light texture, you know it’s going to do some serious repair work on any dry skin. It’s good for dry skin and even treats eczema.

Why I love it

Besides for the fact it has over 7K almost 5 start reviews on Sephora, Its whipped, creamy texture hydrates your skin but leaves a non-greasy after feel that is unmatched. It’s a clean product so it has no gross Chemicals in it which is a huge win. Plus, a little bit goes a long way. Just a small amount give your skin so much moisture.

5. Dr. Bronner Sugar Soap

I guess you could call me the Goldie Locks of body soaps because I am extremely picky on this subject. I usually find soaps that are too harsh, too smelly, too many chemicals. But, this soap is just right. I wish there was a scratch and sniff feature on this site because you need to smell this ASAP. Luckily, Amazon Prime is the second best option. Made with zero preservatives or detergents, this organic soap brand has been around since 1858 and once you try it, you’ll know why.

Why I love it

This is simple. The smell and how soft it makes my skin feel. Don’t sleep on This sugar soap.
